Lower Dover is located in the Village of Unitedville in the Cayo District, halfway between San Ignacio and Belmopan. You find us ½ mile off the Western Highway at Mile 59.

How to get here from Belize International Airport (BZE)

Door to door service:
We can arrange your contact to a shuttle service that brings you from the Belize Airport directly to Lower Dover.

By Taxi or Rental Car
Lower Dover is located in Unitedville, ½ mile off the Western Highway at Mile 59. Don’t fret if you don’t see Belize mile markers along the way as they are as rare as hen’s teeth! Best to follow the following landmarks to guide yourself into Lower Dover located in the village of UNITEDVILLE.

LANDMARKS ALONG THE WAY after you have left Belize City
- Belize Zoo
- Telcom towers
- Power switching station
- Mahogany Heights Village
- Cheers Restaurant
- Monkey Bay Research Outpost
- Amigos Restaurant
- Caves Branch Outpost, Noch Che'en junction, (or also called Jaguar Paw cut off)
- St. Mathews Village
- Steel Bridge (overhead girders)
- Art Box
- Junction with the Hummingbird Hwy (Fair Grounds on Corner - lots of construction /// new round about interchange)
- For bus travelers only: Your bus will stop in the Belmopan bus terminal (stay in your seat – don't exit the bus)
- ATM Cave entrance road sign
- Sharp curves along the Belize River
- Speed bump-junction with Iguana Creek Rd (church/cemetery on right)
- Pepperland road sign on left / Sweet Afton sign on the right (STEEP UPHILL GRADE)
- Officially in Unitedville at the hilltop
- Pass a futbol field on your right, past a couple bus shelters
- See Lower Dover road sign on your right side (river side) of the road. NEXT to UV Store (hardware store). Across from Storage Rental units.
- Follow the signs on the dirt access road. Cross a bridge.
- You will be greeted by a group of barking dogs at our entrance gate. They do not bite. Do not let any of the jump on you (Bad Dog - Stay Down) as a couple of our young dogs still need to work on their manners.

By Public Transportation
Take a taxi to Belize City’s bus terminal. Then catch a LOCAL public bus (NOT Express) indicating CAYO or BENQUE. The bus will stop in Belmopan en route (stay in your seat – don't exit the bus). Get off in the village of Unitedville (for landmarks along the way see the above). Ask the bus driver in advance to let you get off at the UV Hardware Store, right by the Lower Dover sign. From here you can walk (1/2 mile): Follow the signs on the dirt access road. Cross a bridge. Be greeted by our dogs. We can also pick you up at the UV Hardware Store. Just give us a phone call, when you arrived. You can ask in the UV Hardware Store to call us for $1. Note: if arriving in the late afternoon/evening, be sure to bring flashlights for the walk to Lower Dover for the highway. Otherwise, bring a cell phone and we will be happy to pick you up when you call.

How to get here from San Ignacio

By Public Transportation
Catch a LOCAL public bus (NOT Express) indicating BELIZE CITY or BELMOPAN. Get off in the village of Unitedville (about 30 min). Ask the bus driver in advance to let you get off at the UV Hardware Store, right by the Lower Dover sign. Walk across the street to get into our access road. From here you can walk to Lower Dover (1/2 mile): Follow the signs on the dirt road. Cross a bridge. Be greeted by our dogs. We can also pick you up at the Hardware Store. Just give us a phone call, when you arrived. You can ask in the UV Hardware Store to call us for $1. Note: if arriving in the late afternoon/evening, be sure to bring flashlights for the walk to Lower Dover for the highway. Otherwise, bring a cell phone and we will be happy to pick you up when you call.

By Taxi or Rental Car
Get on the Western Highway in direction to Belmopan. Drive 13 miles till you arrive in the village of Unitedville. After the speed bump you pass the "Mile 59 Convenience Store" on your left. The next building a short distance on your left (100 yards) is the UV Hardware Store where you will also see the brown and yellow Lower Dover sign pointing left towards our hotel. Follow the access road through the village approximately 1/2 mile.
